Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking an anti-flammatory and pain med from my foot doctor for tendinitis. I started experiencing abdominal pain 4 days ago and I have chronic gastritis, so I stopped taking the meds from the doctor bc I thought they might be bothering my stomach lining. Every time I ate then I would be in abdominal pain. It took 2 days for that to clear up, but now it feels like I am having a chronic gastritis attack except that I am having severe lower left abdominal pain every time I poop and I am having constant diarrhea. It hurts so bad, I want to cry everytime I poop. This has never happened before. Also my bf and I haven't been able to have sex bc it has been very painful. Could these two be related? I saw the Gyno and my cultures all came back negative. Could this be a more serious stomach problem?
Dear: there are a lot of possibilities for Left abdominal pain. If we consider few of them: 1-Diverticulosis-inflammation of a diverticulum, mostly from a diet with small seeds and low fiber, one of the small seeds as peanuts can go to diverticulum and create this pain that you are having. 2-Ovarian cyst- that can cause lower abdominal pain too, sometimes physiological cyst that will dissapear by itself. 3-Gastritis-it is not the common location, mostly at the middle of the stomach. 4-Pelvic inflammatory disease- can give this pain, but we should expect signs of infection. 5-Endometriosis- another common reason, it is worse while in your menstrual period I hope this will help you, it is unlikely that comes from stomach due to locaion.
