Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m 29 and suffer with fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, asthma and possible degenerative disc disease. I have just had an MRI scan and the results show focal posterocentral disc bulges at L4/L5 and L5/S1 level indenting and compressing on the thecal sac with mild stenosis can you please explain to me what this means and what to expect? I also have a lot of pain in both hips but ankylosing spondylitis and tendinitis have both been ruled out so could these problems with my back be affecting my hips? Thanks :)
IT is the nerve roots which are getting compresed by prolapsed discs. stenosis is reduction of space from where these nerve roots passes. thecal sac is bunch of nerves and due to disc bulge these sac and indirectly nerve rootlets gets compressed leading to pain in hip region. avoid forward bending and heavy weight lifting, take myoril for 5 days and pregalin x sr for 10 days. get well soon , take care
