I was sucking on a wintergreen lifesaver and got a sharp pain behind my ear. I assumed it was that I must have clenched my jaw through the night. Then for Lunch I was eating my sandwich (PB&J) very soft and the same thing occurred. I feel a small lump right below the jaw line behind the ear can you tell me what it is
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sharp pain in ear which is because of ear infection which sometimes remain persistent and leads to recurrent otitis media and ear pain. It also seems to me that you have eustachian tube dysfunction as per your symptoms .I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic to check level of infection. Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , endoscopy and allergy test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 10 days along with decongestant , analgesic and anti inflammatory. You should do warm saline gargles , take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
