I have a sore throat....and it hurts everytime I swallow and it only hurts on the left hand side. Also my jaw is swollen and it hurts. Its hard for me to chew on that side so therefore I have to drink soup or chew on the opposite side of my mouth. Can you help me find out whats wrong?
As per your complain sore throat on one side along with swollen jaw and pain in chewing seems to be related to wisdom tooth..
There is a possibility that you have an impacted or partially erupted wisdom tooth and the gum flap over it is swollen and it can lead to pain and , swollen jaw and also a sore throat with pain only on the affected side..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case of inflamed gum flap an x ray will help in planning the treatment..
If the wisdom tooth is not impacted surgical removal of the gum flap will relieve.. In case if the tooth is impacted extraction of tooth will relieve..
As of now you can take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin for 5 days, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and warm saline gargles.. Do cold compresses over the jaw..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
