I have had flu like symptoms in the past couple of days (high fever, vomiting, a mildly sore throat) but now my fever is pretty much gone but my throat is extremely sore. I have had tonsillitis several times before but never has my throat been so sore and swollen. What should I do?
As per your complain it seems like a Viral Throat Infection leading to inflamed tonsils known as Tonsillitis, along with it there can be a secondary bacterial infection. You can take a course of antibiotics like Levofloxacin or Azithromycin for 5 days. To relieve pain and inflammation of tonsils you can take Ibuprofen or Naproxen. Do warm saline gargles, do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room. If there is excessive pain you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash for relief.. Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily. Take a soft diet and sip on luke warm water throughout the day. Rest your throat by speaking less..
Hope this information helps..
