I have been SICK for over 6 wks they said it ws strep then two weeks ago they said it wasn t I have just finish Anti Biotics for the 2nd round!!! My throat is SOOOOOOOOOO SORE and my ears started popping a couple of days ago? I have a pretty rough cough w/ it too it taste like Band Aids??? Can you help me?
Noted your history well and understood the concerns. The probable causes are: Granular pharyngitis which give the feeling of a foreign body and thus cause irritation increasing the coughing. Severe cough increases pressure in nose and throat causing the Eustachian tubes to open and allow air to cause popping feeling in ears. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult your Doctor for preliminary examination, investigations and get symptomatic treatment as suggested by the Doctor. If no relief then get a referral for an ENT Surgeon for further evaluation, investigations and proper management on prescription. Till then take anti-inflammatory medicines like Ibuprofen if it suits you. Decongestant and cough suppressant.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
