my husband is experiencing a situation with his eyes, mostly his left eye. He says that in his vision he sees a sort of half moon shape of a sparkling light, when it started was fairly small and then grew to about a third of the peripheral vision stayed that way for approximately 5 minutes then all of a sudden it was gone. He has no headache and no general complaints. We are unsure of the situation and are looking for feedback. Thanks Lee YYYY@YYYY
Hi.. Welcome to HCM.. thanks for the query.. What is your husband's age? is he a myope? the symptoms you are telling correlate to flashes of light which warrants a thorough peripheral retinal examination to rule out any tears or holes in the retina.. if the symptoms are followed or preceded by a headache it could be a migraine.. as you are mentioning that there is no headache you need to go for retinal evaluation.. hope this information helps you.. take care...
Hi and welcome to HCM, The description given by you, suggests that your husband is seeing flashes of light in his left eye, which is suggestive of something going on in the vitreous/ retina. There are many causes for this, but it is best advised that you should have it checked out by an vitreoretinal specialist [an ophthalmologist, who specializes in the vitreous/ retina] All the best !!!
