Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello my son is 7 years old. He has pain in the stomach since this morning. it is in the middle to upper part of the abdomen. He is not able to sit, stand or lie down comfortably. It eased a little after a motion but has grown again. He did not eat anything unusual yesterday and had a glass of milk this morning though the pain was already there as we thought that may help improve if it is acidity. Should I try giving him some medicine or take him to a doctor? Thanks.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted that your son of 7 years is having pain in abdomen without any unusual eating, not able to sit or stand or lie, eased a little after passing motion but not completely. This means it may be an emergency as the pain in not tolerable. I think you should get him to the Doctor, preferably a General or Pediatric Surgeon. He needs: X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to rule out intestinal obstruction which may be due to worm infestation. Ultrasonography of the abdomen for appendicitis, lymph nodes and so. Tests of stool, urine and blood. Clinical evaluation and further management.
