Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed of gall stones in my gall bladder in 2006. My question is can d gall stones still be there and If they are,can I ask for a surgery now(they are not bothering me) but I just feel the need to take them out before they become a bother again
noted history of gallbladder stones. yes, you may opt for an elective cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder), which is the definitive management in your case. an ultrasound will be recommended to confirm the presence of the pathology. other diagnostics (complete blood count, liver function tests, alkaline phosphatase) and management (medical and surgical) will be directed accordingly. it is best if you consult with a doctor, preferably a general surgeon, for physical examiation and clinical evaluation. cholecystectomy may be done laparoscopically (goldstandard) or open technique. low fat diet is also advised.
hope this helps.
good day!!
