Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Swelling in the feet is due to venous congestion or poor venous return.
2. Prolonged standing or sitting, compresses the veins of the legs, resulting in back pressure, which causes edema.
3. Limb elevation in lying down position along with 2-3 pillow below legs, so that the feet is above the level of heart, if done, even in the night, will result in swelling reduction. If still persistent, diuretics can be used at a later date.
4. Swelling reduction is necessary, as it can cause pressure ulcer formation and healing will get affected. All other medications, needs to be continued regularly.
5. You are working towards a healthy life. Edema is very common in patients with blood pressure and not to be worried about. If any calcium channel blockers, is being taken, medication change may be necessary. Discuss with your doctor.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
