Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has pulmonary fibrosis and is blind. He is 4nd 1/2 years into fibrosis and is on oxygen 6 liters resting and 12 active. I noticed tonight his feet are swollen and they have never been swollen. Should I call the Dr. tomorrow? Just his feet not his legs, no pain no redness. He is a DNR. I once was a CNA so have some med. knowledge. We are not alarmist, we know reality of this disease. No different meds. What do you think?

As per your explanation I suggest some times it common if this kind of swelling is present with patient for whom there is a issue with cardiologist pulmonary system. This swelling could be due to inactivity or less activity of feet muscles, it can also be due to prolong sitting keeping legs down. As of now just try to raise his feet on up side with pillow and then ask him to move his toes as well as stretch the feet. Do as many reputation he can do. As well if he is not able to do then somebody else have to do the same for him. You can also try with hot and cold pack use alternatively to reduce inflammation if there is. But do not use only hot pack because it may increase the swelling by increasing the circulation and not reducing inflammation. Apart from this if he complain of pain in feet as well loss of sensation and if he is diabetic also then I must suggest you need a visit with doctor too. Hope this was helpful for you. Take care.
