hi tonight I have noticed that I have swollen glands under the jaw line I am working and need to continue to work as I am unable to take any time off work can I take paracetamol until I am able to get to the doctors on a daily basis and is swollen glands contagious
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain swollen glands under the jaw can be most probably swollen lymph nodes and it happens commonly due to infection in head and neck region that is oropharyngeal infections..
You should consult a Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and can also advise you biopsy of the lymph nodes to rule out the exact nature of the swelling and treat you accordingly..
As it is commonly secondary to infection, I would suggest you that by the time you consult a doctor you can take a 5 days course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.. Do warm compresses over the lymph nodes..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
