Suggest Remedy For Swollen Sensation In Pharynx Due To Over Singing
Lately I began to sing again, and well after over singing I experienced a soreness in my pharynx. Briefly afterwards that I m at present feeling a lump in my throat not literally, but it senses as if somebody got a stone in my pharynx. I recognize this is not cancer, but from over singing, and I would like to know to fix this. I can still raise my voice, my voice I do have to clear once in a while, I can still somewhat sing, but if I raise my voice loud enough it becomes sore.
HI, Welcome to HCM, Voice misuse and abuse can cause a variety of problems. Muscle tension dysphonia is a condition where excessive tension in and around the muscles of the larynx leads to an abnormal voice. Prolonged voice misuse can cause swelling of the vocal folds... they are fairly common and can almost always be treated non-operatively with voice therapy. voice rest... even some suggest steroids...the exact method of voice improvement with steroids is not clear. Steroids are used to reduce swelling anywhere in the body and the vocal cords are no exception. If the vocal cords are swollen, steroids will reduce the swelling and the vibration will improve, making the voice sound better. i suggest you to try voice rest and therapy...before going for steroids unless its its emergency...consults speech therapist for voice therapy.... get well soon.......
