My brother has lost all sense of taste due to thyroid surgery, then the radioactive treatment for some cancer cells, then on synthroid. Is there any chance the sense of taste will return? how long? is there anything that can be done to help the taste return faster?
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The loss of taste can be secondary to surgery and radiotherapy. Radiotherapy destroys all the taste buds in the tongue. Nothing to worry, these taste buds takes weeks to months to recover. Mean while take multivitamins like Vitmin A,B6,B12 and iron supplement. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
