I have several small thyroid nodules on an ultrasound, but have one that is almost 2 cm which was red flagged on ultrasound. I am going to have a thyroid uptake in 10 days. Should consideration of having a thyroidectomy be a consideration as being a safer alternative, if the larger mass is not malignant?
Thyroid nodules may cause compression to the trachea Or deviation to the trachea. There is risk of malignancy because of multiple nodules. In such cases thyroidectomy is advised.
