Suggest Remedy For Tinnitus And Partial Hearing Loss While On Cipro

I'm having ringing & experiencing hearing loss in my ears. I'm taking Cipro -500 mg & Metronidazole (Flagyl) - 509 mg. trying to figure out if it's side effect from either or both of these meds. Been taking for month due to fistfula infection due to Crohns.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Ringing in ears along with hearing loss seems to be a side effect of Ciprofloxacin as it is considered to be an Ototoxic drug and long term use of this antibiotics can cause damage to the ears leading to ringing and loss of hearing..

I would suggest you to immediately stop taking Ciprofloxacin and consult your treating physician and get evaluated so that he can advise you to take another antibiotics that will not cause harmful side effect..

You should also consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and Otoscopic examination can help in ruling out the level of damage as well as chances of recovery with treatment and treatment will be proceeded accordingly..
