Hi sir I am a type II diabetic since 15 years Now my FBS is 298 & PLBS is 419 My doctor prescribed 1. Istamet 50/1000. Before lunch and dinner 2.lipaglin (saroglitazar) morning Should I take any other medicine in addition to this Please advice me Thank you
Dear sir/madam i can understand your concern. in my opinion the medications what you are on are very good medications. but in natural course of diabetes the medication tend to become ineffective after usage for some days this is due to progressive failure of beta cells. in my opinion since diabetes is not under control you might be having two options 1.start insulin for few days like 20-25 days lets your pancreas recover from the stress caused by high sugars and after that shift to medications like glimipride. 2.the second option is start using medications like glimipride straight away.
to patients walking in to my clinic i would like to suggest option 1 since it helps in longevity of pancreas and its a well validated kind of treatment.
i wish you happy recovery regards Dr vamsi
