Hello doctor, hyperpigmentation and blackening on my chin and around lips.. I have had acne since teenage and I am currently on isotretonoin 20mg. The acne is somewhat under control. I have had this blackeninv and uneven skin tone since teenage from when the acne problem started. What is the remedy for this skin condition. ?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems like there is post inflammatory hyperpigmentation secondary to inflammation caused due to acne. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is tough to treat and can take for months to fade off.. You can start using facewash containing glycolic acid and salicylic acid as it will help in peeling off the dead skin.. Apply creams containing Kojic acid, glycolic acid and arbutin.. Apply Vitamin E gel or oil at night.. You can use aloevera gel for lubrication of face. Wash your face with cold water frequently.. Exfoliate your skin twice a week with a mild scrub.. Limit sun exposure and apply a sunscreen lotion when you got out in sunlight.. Drink plenty of water and take vitamin C supplements.. You can also go for photofacial and chemical peels for faster improvement..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
