I m pretty sure I have a uti, it s very painful to pee. I ve had one before so that s why I don t really have any doubts right now. But last time I never peed blood and now I am. I m suffering from a lot of discomfort and have to use the bathroom every 10 minutes just to pee like 3 drops. Do I need to go to the ER because of the blood?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to urinary infection. But if blood is there better go to ER. Urine routine should be done to rule out infection. Presence of blood can be due to kidney stones. In such case ultrasound examination should be done to rule out the condition. Antibiotic therapy will be needed for infection. If stone and small size taking more water and forced diuresis will be helpful. Taking cranberry juice or barley water is good also. You can also take potassium citrate in water. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
