My daughter had a urine chlamydia test taken in August which was positive which she queried so she had a swab test taken which was negative. She has had another urine test taken and this has come back positive so she has received treatment. Is the result based on the strenght of a particular strain and what are the chances that it could be negative again. Thank you
Hello and welcome to HCM, A positive urine test for Chlamydia infection implies that infection with Chlamydia is present in the urinary tract. A negative swab test does not rule out Chlamydia infection and a negative test is due to limitation of the test. After completion of treatment for Chlamydia, you need to repeat the urine test for Chlamydia. If negative, the infection is ruled out.
