HI. I have changed onto Rigevidon from Yasmin contraceptive and have gained over a stone in the 2 months since I changed. There has been little change in my diet or activities. Previously my weight was stable on Yasmin but my doctor wanted to change due to the risk of clots. what do you think?
The difference in the two pills you have mentioned is in the Progestational component. Rigevidon contains Levonorgestrel 150 microgms while Yasmin contains Drospirenone 3 mg. This progestational compound is instrumental in increase in your weight.
Due this changed progestational compound, your body is retaining more salts and effectively more water which in part is responsible for weight gain. Hence, reduction in salt intake may help you keep some control on weight gain.
Also this progestational compound is responsible for fat deposition - particularly in the breasts and buttocks. Increased fat increases the weight. So you will have to modify your diet. Consume more proteins and low fats & carbohydrates. Along with exercise also is necessary.
This change in your life style might help you in controlling your weight.
I hope this helps you.
