Suggest Remedy To Avoid Pregnancy After Unprotected Sex

Hi,I'm on the bc Gildess FE 1-20 and I was late taking it this past sunday and I forgot to take it last night and just now took it. I did have sex Monday night the 17th and did not use back up protection. I'm in the 2nd week of the pill pack and according to the calendar my peak ovulation would be the 18th. I'm wondering if I should get the plan b pill since it will be within 48 hours of when I had intercourse. In case I can't find plan b is there another alternative like taking multiple pills of my current pill pack? Thank you

Hello,

In the current scenario, since you have made up for the missed pill, you are sufficiently protected. Please take your regular dose as scheduled. I do not think you would need any other hormone protection and that would disturb your hormone milieu further, which is unwanted.

There is also no need to take several pills from your pack; just take your daily doses without fail. However, if you are in the first couple of cycles of hormone contraception, failure can occur without additional protection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shanti Vennam,
