Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter got hit by a girl s shoulder in her jaw area during a soccer game (so hard impact) on Saturday. She is having pain when she opens jaw, when she eats & it aches pretty much all the time. I had her ice it when we got home, but have switched to moist heat treatment and ibuprofene. Is there anything else to do to ease her pain?
For pain relief she can try the following: 1. Give rest to jaw. take soft diet or liquid diet for the time being. 2. Apply cold compresses such as ice application. 3. Use drugs such as Diclofenac/Mobizox, if not getting relieved with Acetaminophen, ibuprofen depending on her age and weight. 4. Apply local ointment like diclofenac gel for pain relief.
If still the pain is excruciating and not getting relieved, consult an orthopaedic surgeon to rule out any bone fracture. For further questions, do contact us.
