Suggest Remedy To Get Rid Of Chronic Productive Cough
I have a chronic productive cough that seems to never really go all the way away, though it is sometimes much better than other times. I believe the cough is caused by mucus in my airway and lungs that is leftover from times when I have had a cold/allergies and been very congested. I was diagnosed with asthma as a child though I have never had an asthma attack nor have I ever had much trouble breathing even during exercise so I don t think that asthma is the problem. Is there a way to get rid of this cough?
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist first and get done chest x ray and Pulmonary Function Test(PFT). In your case you may have chronic bronchitis as untreated asthma can cause chronic bronchitis. So Chest x ray is needed to rule out chronic infection as a cause. PFT is needed for diagnosing chronic bronchitis and also determining its severity. So consult pulmonologist and discuss these things. The treatment of chronic bronchitis is 1. Inhaled therapy with meter dose inhalers containing long acting beta 2 agonist and inhaked corticosteroids. 2. Antihistamines 3. Anti inflammatory drugs. 4. Antibiotics as and when needed.
