Hello, I have been on the Microgynon pill for nearly five years. Due to regular holiday's, I am on my third pack without taking a week's break. The last few days I have experienced breakthrough bleeding, however do not know if this is due to stress. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Many thanks.

Hi, I understand your query. Microgynon is a cyclical contraceptive & needs a weeks gap for maintaining optimum hormonal content in body.Barring this a hormonal imbalance may result , causing break through bleeding ( even if you are continuing with the pill. Stress also adds to hormonal imbalance. To manage the bleeding.. - Take rest, avoid stress ( mental/ physical ) - Let the blood flow out. for 5 days. In case excessive, capsule CVP gynae can be taken.( 2 capsules three times a day ) - If you need to stop bleeding immediately ( which is not normally advocated,), consult a gynecologist. Thanks. -
