Hello, so i have a friend that is 14 and she recently told me that she has smoked a couple times and she is scared to tell her doctor because she thinks her doctor will tell her parents. If she does tell her doctor would the doctor tell her parents or would it stay between them? Also i am having a problem with my period. I started birth control last month and this month my period came and it has been around two weeks And im still on it... This is the first time it has happened to me so im not too worried but i was wondering what could have caused this and if it will stop soon, or if there is anything i can do to stop it.
Your friend need not be worried. Doctors follow the doctor - patient confidentiality and anything she shares with her doctor, shall remain with her doctor if she doesn't want anyone else to know.Having said that smoking is injurious to health and it would be very wise if you could counsel your friend to avoid this habit which is detrimental to health in many ways.
Now coming to your concern. It takes 1-2 cycles for the body to set to the birth control pills as they are hormonal drug.I hope you have started your next pack of pills after 7 pill free days and not waiting for the periods to stop (i have seen many patients who get confused in this aspect and wait for periods to stop before starting the next pack after exactly after 7 days). You may also take tranexemic acid to help with the bleeding along with your oral pills. You must also get your hemoglobin levels done to get an idea about amount of blood loss.
Note - If your bleeding is heavy and persisting even though you have started you pills after 7 days, you might require control by progesterone
