My name is Salma, i'm 24yrs old, did Engg. in biotechnology. since 3yrs i'm married. i've a daughter who is 1and a half yr old. i'm working in an college in dubai since 6months only. i've some constraints, like i should complete my Masters n do my research. so i was planning 2 have only one child. but now my last LOP was Feb 20. and i'm conceived. but i want to abort this as soon as possible. Dr., plz tell me till when can i abort, and its illegal here in dubai and for that i should travel india. so plz, tell me till when can i go for this, so that the risks can be reduced.

I have gone through your query and understood the concern. If you wish not to retain this pregnancy, you should see a gynecologist for further management. After proper clinical confirmation, blood counts, urinalysis, a trans-vaginal sonogram is done to locate the gestation sac and the age of the pregnancy. An induced medical abortion can be done with a pregnancy less than 9 weeks, preferably less than 7 weeks for better results. The whole process takes 2-3 days and medical surveillance is mandatory. Follow up is after two weeks and this includes a repeat sonogram. Hope this helps.
