Suggest Remedy To Treat Infected Hair Roots

I am 24, 5'3" and 160 pounds. I don't really have a medical history, but my sisters have PCOD. I get pimples and cysts on my scalp. Some of them have infected roots. The areas with the infected roots hurt really tremendously, so occasionally i will pluck the infected hairs from my scalp to relieve the pain. The plucked hair roots are think white and black on the very ends. What can I do to get this under control before I pluck every hair out of my head?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain first thing that I would like to tell you is that you are following a wrong practice of plucking of the hairs as it can further be worsening the condition rather than helping in its resolution.

As far as appearance of pimples on the scalp is concerned it can be due to causes like:
-Hair follicle infection or Folliculitis.
-Allergic reaction.
-Impetigo etc..

You need a proper evaluation done by a Dermatologist or a Trichologist and he can advise you investigations like microscopic examination of scalp scraping, blood culture, complete blood picture etc to confirm the cause and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised to apply antibiotic ointment over the scalp..
Massaging the scalp with steroid lotion can help..
You can also be advised to take antihistamines like Levocetrizine or benadryl..
Keep the scalp clean and wash with a mild shampoo every alternate day and avoid plucking the hairs.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
