Suggest Side Effects Of Sulfazine 500 MG

I am taking Sulfazine 500 MG. Rheumatologist said to take 1 tablet 3 times daily. Been on medication since March 18, 2015. Starting Sunday of this week, my body went and still is in allergic reaction mode. Is this a side effect of the above medication? Thank you. Carmen Henry

I appreciate your concern for the safety of Sulfazine (Sulfasalazine).

Basically used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and ulcerative colitis, Sulfasalazine is known to cause stomach upset (vomiting, diarrhea), hemolytic anemia, reversible male infertility, allergic reactions (skin eruptions, ulcers in the oral cavity) due to sulfur content.

If you have developed these side effects, kindly consult your treating doctor for possible use of alternate safe and effective drugs like Methotrexate.
