Suggest Solution For Ear Pain After Putting Q-tip.

Last night my 4 year old put a q-tip in my 6 year old daughter's ear. She screamed and when we got to her we noticed that there was a little blood visible in her ear. Overnight, there was nothing that oozed onto her pillow, no other discharge and the bleeding has stopped
This morning she says her ear hurts when she swallows, but otherwise it feels OK. She says that her hearing is normal. How should I proceed?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain as you have put the q-tip into your daughter's ear there is a possibility that it has injured the lining of ear canal leading to bleeding and some pain..
As her hearing is normal there is a lesser chance that you have perforated her ear drum..
You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get her evaluated and an Otoscopic examination can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case of injury to ear canal it will gradually subside and in case of pain tylenol can be given to her..
In case if there minor perforation of ear drum the physician can advise antibiotics like Amoxicillin, tylenol for pain and antibiotic ear drops and also deconestants..
In case of large perforations which does not seem evident in your case, surgical patching has to be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
