Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As you have mentioned, food can aggravate acne. But it is also necessary to find out the basic cause of acne. Since she is 27 years old, acne usually settles down by early 20s when hormone changes settle. If she has
adult acne, certain things such as menstrual cycles, medications,
contraceptive pills, lifestyle, and diet as well need to be checked. Exposure to pollution and unsuitable or oil-based cosmetics also need to be avoided. Finding the root cause will greatly help.
As with food, it’s mostly the oily and fatty food rather than spiciness that increases oil and leads to acne. So try to cut down on these regularly. Take a lot of water and fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid harsh chemicals and soaps or cosmetics. Don’t scrub or squeeze
pimples. Use an oil control face wash but only 1 to 2 times a day, at other times plain water will do. Aha glow or Glogeous face wash will help with
scars too.
If there any menstrual irregularities, do get them checked by gynecologist. If pimples are present at the moment use Deriva-CMS gel at night only for about 2 weeks.
Do review with doctor as advised for further results. Also, if any blood tests are necessary such as hormone levels or
lipid profile, they can advise you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dinah Levillard
