Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My sister, age 55 has been on Talentil pus tab 2 Nos ,Hexidol 5mg (one) & Night 5 mg for the past 20 years for her mental disorders. Now this Talentil plus is not easily available in the local medical shops .Is there any better substitute for this medicine ?
Talentil plus contains Chlorprmazine and Trihexyphenidyl. Chlorpromazine is a typical anti-psychotic drugs prescribed in shizophrenia. Common side effects are involuntary movements of the hand (tremors) and muscle spasm. Trihexyphenidyl is an anti-cholinergic drug used commonly to prevent these side effects. Common side effects are nausea, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, flushing, etc. If the combination is not available, you can give the drugs separately at the same time.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
