Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is the best specific prescription of medicine, suplements and treatment for an eighty-year-old person? This person feels week with difficulty to walk, but has no pain and has always been healthy. She may be a little sad. How can we know the causes and stop them? Her blood exams were ok. How can we make sure we are strengthening her physically. She eats very adequately, apparently.
You are asking what medication or supplement would help an 80 year old female. In my practice I see numerous elderly patients and I have a treatment regimen I use for most of my patients. I recommend that they take a general multivitamin with minerals daily and a vitamin D supplement with calcium. She should also get regular exercise like walking and some good socialization time with family and friends.
The other concern I see is that she maybe slightly depressed. If this depression keeps her from participating in activities then she may need additional medication like an antidepressant.
Hope this answers your question. Please contact us again with your concerns.
