thank you for query.There are tests for Viral RNA identification (RNA PCR), Antigen of HIV (P24 ag), Antibodies for HIV (ELISA), DUO(tests P24 ag and antibody),western blot etc. It depends on the stage of infection of the person. PCR will be useful in the early stage of infection even in the window period. Later P 24 ag will be positive later. Antibodies will be positive after bodies have formed against HIV so later after the window period.
