Suggest Tests To Diagnose Diverticulitis And Crohn S Disease
I have had IBS for years and try to eat healthy, however in the past year I have had much more severe diarrhea specifically with so much pain that I almost faint from the dizziness and my hands fall asleep. I have had to come home and just rest. I take probiotics, vitamins and 1 Prilosec a day for heartburn. I have had stools that start out normal then become very loose and found blood on my toilet tissue. Now I find pain in my front left side that is dull and looming. What is the best way to rule out diverticulitis, colitis, or crohns?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) can be present in different ways for example as diarrhea or constipation and so on. Hence the first step towards solving your problem is to get the investigations of stool, blood, urine, CT scan of the abdomen, Colonoscopy and an upper GI endoscopy to know the probable cause and if a specific cause is found then to go for specific management.
If all the investigations are normal, then the obvious treatment can be based on the basis if IBS. Till then have symptomatic treatment as follows: Sitz bath in a tub with warm water. Laxative for constipation. Dietary adjustment as needed and suits you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
