Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have just recently had a change in my stool color to a clay color. I started a probiotic and tea instead of coffee. Could this be the cause? i also recently had a colonoscopy which was normal and liver enzymes also are normal. Appreciate any help. Thanks!
Hi. The most important cause of clay colored stool is obstruction to the bile flow. You need: Ultrasonography of the abdomen and MRCP and ERCP for confirmation and as a treatment too. Get the following tests done: Stool on 3 days even for stercobilinogen. Urine: routine and for bile salts and pigment. Liver functions to be repeated.
