Suggest Therapy For Depression

hello doctor I am from patna.My 20 yrs brother is suddenly became silent & not responding to anything he asked.his hemoglobin level is below 7.he became very weak & cannot able to even stand or walk himself.he is not talking from last 4 months.he is very depressed & lack of interest in life.He has not even go outside from home from last 4 months.When we compel him to go outside home he starts crying...Dr.plz advice me...what should I do..

Hello Welcome to HCM

He is a 20 years old male and is showing symptoms like low mood, lack of interest in life or anhedonia, poor interaction, not going out of home. He is suffering from severe anaemia and he is very weak in health. Most probably he is suffering from moderate to severe depression. He is having crying spells and he has restricted himself at home. He is not responding to interactions.

Take him to a good Psychiatrist for expert opinion. Medicines like Mirtazepine, Sertraline, Fluoxetine etc are good anti-depressant drugs that are used in depression. For his negative symptoms medicines like Amisulpiride ca be used. The medicines should be taken after proper prescription only.

Psychological treatment in from of Cognitive Therapy is very useful modality of treatment of severe depression. Provide him warm and supportive care.
