Suggest Treatment For EDNOS

Hi.. I m 15 and I have EDNOS (Eating disorder not otherwise specified). I purge a lot but also restrict. For the past two weeks I ve been having a little bit of blood on the toilet paper when I wipe after having a bowl movement. Sometimes my bowl movements are difficult to get out and other times I ll have diarrhea. It doesn t matter how my BM is I still find some blood on the toilet paper and its painful when I pass a BM. But its not painful any other time. I never itch there either. There hasn t been any cancer in my family of any kind that I know of.. I was wondering what this might be? And if I need to go to a doctor or just wait for this to pass..?

Hi,

Along with the eating disorder (I suppose you have been diagnosed by a professional and under treatment for the same), you appear to be suffering from fissure-in-ano. It is probably a complication of the purging and restricting habit.

There will be a fissure/ crack in the mucosa/skin of anus. So you are getting blood and pain. This fissure takes time to heal. This will worsen if stools are hard and frequent. So try to maintain a soft stool and try to decrease the frequency of passing stools to once a day.

Certain gels like lignocaine can be applied locally to decrease pain, lubricate the outflow and fasten up healing. Though not a reason to worry, it would be advisable to have a consultation with a surgeon/proctologist.

Continue consultation with psychiatrist/psychologist and regularise the eating pattern.
