Suggest Treatment For IBD(distal Portion)

I HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH IBD ( DISTAL PORTION) IN DEC-11. SINCE THAN I HAVE TAKEN 3 COURSES OF STEROID, BUT AS SOON AS STEROIDS ARE TAPERED AND WITHDRAWN, WITHIN 15 DAYS AGAIN IT GET FLARED UP WITH BLOOD IN THE STOOL. FOR MORE THAN 1 YEAR I AM CONSISTENTLY TAKING 3 TABLETS OF MESLICILINE (1.2GMM) DAILY. NOW MY DOCTOR WISH TO START AZARON. PLEASE ADVISE.

Thank for asking query to HCM, Your concern will be appreciated.
Let me inform you that what ever the disease you have if this is indicated for steroid then steroid can not be given for long time and it has to be stop after tapering the dosages.
If you have a symptoms of blood stain stool after tapering the steroid the it may not be due to drug tapered but it could be due to something else and that needed investigation, steroid can not stop the bleeding, even the newer drug may not be having any role in your case, in my opinion better to have second opinion, hope this information helps, take care.
