Hello and welcome to HCM, ITP stands for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. ITP is characterized by ow platelet counts. Thus, ITP is responsible for low platelet counts, however, it does not affect the blood counts. ITP is most commonly caused by viral infection and it most commonly responds to steroids. However, the treatment depends on the underlying cause of ITP. Thus, you should consult your hematologist for continuation or discontinuation of treatment.
