My son had a cyst removed on his head. After the stitches were removed it seemed to get puffy and bigger, dark red. Dr told me it is a keloid and will need to see a plastic surgeon. Have an appointment with a plastic surgeon in 3 weeks. I'm wondering if there is anything he can use in the meantime to ensure it doesn't spread and get bigger? Fucidin cream perhaps?
Chest and shoulders are notorious for keloidal scaring in susceptible individuals. Keloids are best managed with intralesional steroids e.g intralesional triamcinolone acetonide. The depot injection causes breakdown of the excessive collagen tissue present in keloidal scar, thereby causing them to flatten.
The injection might be repeated after 3 weeks if required.
Fucidin cream wont help at all in keloid
