My sonography report shows few tiny peripheral follicles 2-5 mm but not typical pcos The conclusion of report states it rules out pcod. My tsh level is 7 and testosterone male hormone is 40.07 . My doctor says I have pcos. She wants me to start medications for pcos . do all peripheral follicles lead to pcod or pcos or than can be another cause.
Hello, I have gone through your query and I would like to offer my opinion. Here are your answers and some suggestions: 1. The isolated observation of multiple follicles in the ovary does not diagnose PCOD. Simultaneous occurrence of other findings like abnormal FSH:LH ratio, obesity, abnormal hair growth on the face and the body, irregular menstruation, infertility, abnormal glucose tolerance etc., confirm the diagnosis. Your TSH level is higher than normal while your testosterone level is within normal limits. You can go for a repeat test after a few days before starting treatment with thyroxine. You should also get serum DHEAS levels, AMH titres and antral follicular count to confirm a diagnosis of PCOD. Hope this helps.
