Suggest Treatment For PCOS

Hi, I have been diagnosed with PCOS and was put on Birth control to help regulate my periods. After years on birth control my partner and I have decided to try for a baby. I have recently had a blood test to check everything involved with pcos and it came back completely normal. My doctor prescribed me 50mg of metformin a day to see if that starts my periods however no period so far. Just wondering what my next option is. I don t like being off birth control because I get really bad pains in my pelvis and it affects a lot of my life. So would like to get pregnant ASAP. Thankyou.

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Following are the aims of PCOS treatment
Regularize the cycle (generally OCP is used), Decrease insulin resistance (metformin), Induction of ovulation, Treatment of hormone imbalance, Reduce the weight
As you already on OCP and metformin then you have to try following Drugs:

Spironolactone and fulatamide: diuretic action and also induce ovulation
Clomiphene citrate to induce ovulation and maintain fertility
FSH hormone or FSH analogue for infertility treatment.
In vitro fertilization for infertility problem
Last option is ovarian dreeling surgery: if not responds to medical treatment
Diet: take small frequent meal rather large meal
Avoid fatty/spicy/salty foods
Avoid excessive sweets
Start regular exercise for 45-60 minutes in the morning

Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
