Suggest Treatment For PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS in February 2014. From then on, I only had my periods in March, April, July & September 2014. In November, I spotted on 16th & 18th November 2014. The blood colour was brownish and it only filled a little bit of my pantyliner on the 16th & just a little bit of my pad on the 18th. No more blood after that. Please advise. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
PCOS is a condition characterized by problem in ovulation- so the periods are irregular & without ovulation.
The treatment of pcos ranges from -
- healthy life style with object to reduce weight/ with addition of metformins to help weight reduction as per need
- Cyclical hormonal treatment in case pregnancy is not planned,
- Use of Clomiphene ,an ovulation stimulater .
-Use of Gonadotrophin injections.
- Surgery- Ovarian drilling
The treating gynecologist decides the treatment regime as per patient's requirements/symptoms.
Thanks.
