My husband has Parkinson s. He s been wearing Depends because of problems with incontinence. Now there is a raw area where the top of the leg connects with the torso. He can t wear Depends or any other type of shorts that would touch that area. Been back to boxers, but we need to begin applying some sort of treatment to the area to heal it up. I bought some Desitin ointment and mixed it with Neosporin this afternoon. What do you suggest?

Usually the area seems to be infected with the contents of defecation which might have caused the area to inflame and subsequently develop a skin breach. The most important thing is to keep that area clean and apply soap water at home to clean and dry and apply some antibacterial ointment to prevent further bacterial growth. In case the area is big, consult a surgeon for dressings on a regular basis else in long run, it may lead to non healing ulcer only amenable to surgery. Remember, don't try to treat it yourself.
