Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My granddaughter is 8 years old and over the last year she has developed very bad symptoms of Separation Anxiety. Since birth she has always had many happy sleepovers at my home and the homes of other grandparents and aunties etc. Now she breaks down and gets hysterical at the thought of having to be away from her mum and dad, she is also upsetting her younger sister. Her parents had a bad year in their marriage with lots of shouting and threats of breaking up which I feel has contributed to this condition she now suffers. She was accidently locked in a public toilet 3 or 4 years ago and it has taken up to recently for her to be able to go into them comfortably and actually lock the door, only last week was the first time we have gotten her into an elevator without her freaking out. This child needs help as her poor mum and all of our family are at our wits end as to how to move her on from her fears. Thankyou for listening. Kind regards, Dianne Chaytor
