Suggest Treatment For UTI Along With Throbbing Kidney Pain
I have had uti symptoms for about 5 days. Tonight I was put on an antibiotic and when j got home my back started to hurt where my kidneys are located. Now I am in throbbing pain and have a fever. Should I go to the emergency room or allow the antibiotics to work?
It looks like your infection is not getting controlled easily. I hope you did urine culture and sensitivity test and then started on an antibiotic. It is important to know if the antibiotic is going to work against the bacteria causing infection.
If you are having pain in the back where kidneys are located then an ultrasound scan or CT scan of the abdomen can show any particular condition. UTI is restricted to the lower urinary tract like urinary bladder and urethra. However rarely such an infection can ascend and involve the kidneys and this can get serious. If you are having pain in the kidney area then consulting the ER doctor is suggested. They will modify your treatment and also do tests to confirm diagnosis. Please do not worry.
