Suggest Treatment For UTI And Swollen Clitoris During Pregnancy

I am 35 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby. I have a UTI and recently noticed that my clitoris and lips are swollen and sore. Sometimes itchy and feels raw. I have had yeast infections before and I m sure i don t have one right now. Is this normal? And how do i get comfortable?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM
I understand your concerns.Urinary tract infection is very common in pregnancy because of growing uterus and hormonal changes.
I would advice you to follow these steps:
1.Use washcloths to clean the perineum
2..Use liquid soap to prevent colonization from bar soap
3.Wipe front-to-back after urinating or defecating
4.Wash hands before using the toilets.

Also as you have diagnosed with infection, you need to take a course of antibiotics like- Cephalexin 500 mg 4 times daily or Ampicillin 500 mg 4 times daily.
These antibiotics are considered to be safe in pregnancy.
Hope you are happy with the answer.
Thank you
