Suggest Treatment For UTI While On Ofloxacin

Dear Doctor, I am into the 5th month of pregnancy and having some infection is der in UTI at the moment. A Doctor has prescribed one antibiotics, 1) Ofloxacin 200mg. Please let me know if it is safe to take these considering my condition. Many thanks (Mrszareena)

UTI meaning Urinary Tract infection is a common infection especially in females. It can also happen during pregnancy like in your case. Here i see a problem in the medication prescribed that is Ofloxacin which is used in UTI generally but in cases of pregnancy there are other safe alternatives which can be taken.
I would suggest to you to use simple antibiotic like Amoxicillin/Clavulanate 1grams twice daily for 5 days which is a much safer medication during pregnancy especially in the 1st and 2nd trimester i.e first 6 months .
You can also get a urine R/E to confirm the UTI and urine culture and sensitivity can also be done to know the exact cause of UTI and the best effective antibiotic.
Take plenty of water and keep special care of hygiene.
