Suggest Treatment For A Bump Inside The Ear

Hello. I ve had a bump inside my ear that was very tender to touch. It was there for about 2-3 weeks, then it went away yesterday. Today, later in the afternoon, I was checking for said bump, and I found a little hard lump (pea sized) on my left tragus. It does not hurt, it is under the skin, and I can move it. Is there any thoughts, information or advice you could give me as to WHAT this is?

Hi. Thank you for writing to HCM.

You seem to have had an outer ear infection or otitis externa which probably resolved in terms of infection but has left behind its residual swelling which is non painful, nodular and may move a bit.

In my opinion you should let this resolve on its own. it may take a week of so to disappear. In the mean time keep the area dry and apply an antiseptic ointment like betadine on it twice daily for a week.

If the pain or any pus like discharge starts to appear, see a physician for a course of antibiotics.

Hope this information was helpful. Do let me know if you have any other concerns.
